Wanted to use the android port of the Godot Engine. There's godot-rust for writing Rust components for the Godot engine. Had a really good experience using it so far, I highly recommend it for a smaller project if you need something a tad more powerful than, let's say, Construct or Renpy. We've used Godot Engine - a bit lesser known game engine geared mainly towards 2D games (although it can do 3D as well, just don't expect as many bells and whistles as with Unity or Unreal). And it's based on real stories of refugees. The game has a huge 1,200-page script, branched narratives, thousands of dialogue choices and multiple endings.
After 3 years of gamedevelopment & 4 years of researching the subject, we finally uploaded a demo of our Text-Based RPG about Refugees on Steam. In brief, my game would consist of a role-play game, with an 8-bit style, allowing players to have a customizable character, being also able to decorate their homes etc. The problem is that I'm unsure how could I start. While targeted at game programming, Godot can be used to develop many GUI tools. My objective is to learn from Stencylpedia for applying its concepts to a RPG game. If a person wanted to create desktop applications without buying something expensive like Qt, what would you use?
